An introduction to APA
When you do research, you will use a wide range of resources including books, webpages, movies, YouTube videos or news reports. In academic writing, you need to show where your information and ideas come from – both in the essay, but also in a reference section at the end. There are many different systems to do this, but the Intensive English A course uses the APA system. (Have a look at the essay with quotes and references on the Focus: Writing page for an example.) The information below gives you an introduction to APA, and is followed by some more links to help you.
